Sierra San Joaquin Jobs First (S2J2): Spring Sprint

In spring of 2024, the Sierra San Joaquin Jobs First (S2J2)initiative, Bienestar Community Economics supported the development of a regional investment plan aimed at fostering an inclusive, resilient, and sustainable economy that offers quality jobs and equitable economic access for all residents across the four-county region.

Bienestar’s work included:

  • Leading the Education and Skill Building Workgroup, engaging more than 100 representatives from education, workforce development, labor, and community organizations through an inclusive design sprint.

  • Developing the Education and Workforce Development chapter of the regional plan, synthesizing insights into a comprehensive framework that identified challenges and assets, outlined investment strategies and funding needs, and charted a clear path forward for regional collaboration.

  • Supporting education and workforce leaders in aligning programs and pathways with industry priorities to strengthen the region’s talent pipeline.

The result is a shared vision and actionable roadmap for building a coordinated education and workforce system across the Sierra San Joaquin region—one that connects training and talent development to economic development goals and advances a more resilient and inclusive regional economy.
